Web-enabled classified ad entry
InfiNet hosts and manages the GDTNova remote classified ad entry application AdEZ for the Asbury Park Press, The Tennessean, the Rockford (IL) Register Star and The Honolulu Advertiser among others.

InfiNet coordinates application installation, performs the software install, tests the application and provides staff training. In addition, these customers rely upon InfiNet to keep this mission critical application functioning and available to newspaper customers day and night.

9/11/01--Maximizing our customers' site performance
The September 11, 2001 terrorist attack on New York City's World Trade Center led to enormous newspaper web site traffic, both on that day and those immediately following. InfiNet's customers experienced virtually no impact on response time and overall site performance during the crisis, whereas many major national news organization's sites were overwhelmed with traffic and crashed.

The reason for our success? InfiNet's data environment was designed to serve newspapers and the unpredictable traffic surges that are part of our industry. Our operations staff worked continuously to keep machine capacity available and to monitor our customers' web sites. Our server configuration and ample headroom were other key factors behind our customers' ability to live up to their users' expectations during one of the most devastating events in recent American history.

9/11 Victims Database for Newsday
When Newsday moved to establish a searchable online database of victims of the World Trade Center attack, InfiNet partnered with the Newsday.com team to get it accomplished quickly and reliably. Newsday began its print version of "The Lost," profiles of those killed or missing in the 9/11 attacks in New York, Washington, D.C. and Pennsylvania, on September 13. By September 18, InfiNet and Newsday.com had launched the Cold Fusion-based online version. InfiNet helped to create the database, troubleshoot issues, manage its day-to-day performance and provide traffic statistics, all with the quick turnaround needed to keep Newsday's 9/11 coverage competitive.

By October of 2001, other Tribune newspapers were linked to the database, providing this extended coverage for their web site visitors as well.

Election 2000
The day after the unresolved presidential election in November 2000, InfiNet saw its total traffic throughput jump by over 50%. The sites of some InfiNet customers experienced traffic increases of over 200%. No InfiNet customers, however, experienced unresponsive sites. While the sites of some national news organizations were taking a half minute or more to respond to users, InfiNet customer sites were available in three seconds or less, again demonstrating InfiNet's capability to perform in a demanding environment.

ClassifiedsChicago.com
When three competitive publishers in the Chicago area decided to collaborate on a regional classifieds site, they turned to InfiNet. At the time, the agreement between Copley Chicago Newspapers, Hollinger International Inc., and Paddock Publications Inc. was groundbreaking in the publishing industry. Key to the agreement was the partners' unanimous choice of InfiNet to set up and manage the site's applications and content delivery.

Because more than 90 newspapers are involved, including three of Chicago's biggest dailies - Chicago Sun-Times, Daily Herald and Herald News - InfiNet's system architects had to determine how to map several different data structures to one common structure. The joint site had to be designed to satisfy each publisher's business plan, since each of the partners offers the aggregated classifieds on their individual sites.

"We chose InfiNet for their features and their commitment to the product. The application is organic enough to be flexible, and we were looking for a product to grow with us. Another important reason was that InfiNet deals with newspapers, so they are already familiar with our problems and will help us with solutions." John W. Cary, Director of Sun-Times Interactive.
